Bathroom Fitters, Building, Plumbing & Electrical Services in Mersea Island

Reached across the Strood causeway, Mersea Island has a character all of its own: family homes and bungalows in West Mersea, holiday homes and lets, and older cottages near the waterfront. Coastal properties bring particular challenges, and we plan for them from the start.

Damp sea air means bathrooms take longer to dry out, so ventilation matters more here than almost anywhere else. In a wet room or busy family bathroom, a good extractor fan, ideally one with a humidity sensor, makes a real difference to mould and condensation. Holiday homes that stand empty for weeks at a time need this even more, along with care for pipes in winter. Our guide to wet rooms and shower enclosures explains the options.

Many island bungalows are also ideal for level-access showers, either for comfort now or to plan ahead. If someone in the household has a disability, a Disabled Facilities Grant may help with the cost, as explained in our council-by-council guide. One practical note: we plan our visits around the tide times on the Strood.
